Position Overview

DOUMMAR MEP Contractors (D-MEP) designs, supplies and installs the electromechanical systems of premium buildings, with active projects in Ghana, Cyprus and Cameroon managed from its head office in Beirut. Since early 2026, D-MEP's innovation team has built the group's HR, payments and accounting systems in-house, using AI development tools rather than traditional software development.

D-MEP is recruiting an AI Product Owner to take ownership of these systems. The AI Product Owner will report to the Chief Innovation Officer and will be responsible for the day-to-day running, planning and further development of the HR and finance modules. They will work directly with company management, finance and project staff across all countries of operation to identify what each workflow requires, and will build, ship and improve the solutions themselves using AI tools.

The role does not require a computer science background. D-MEP's innovation team is made up of people from business, humanities and software backgrounds, and builds its systems through AI tools such as Claude Code rather than by writing code by hand.

Key Responsibilities

Product Ownership

• Own the HR module, including leave requests and approvals, team calendars and country-specific public holiday rules
• Own the payments module, including payment requests, approval workflows, and links to cash accounts and expense types
• Own the accounting workflows that connect payments and operations to D-MEP's books
• Maintain the roadmap for these modules, and set and justify priorities with the Chief Innovation Officer

Requirements and Stakeholder Management

• Work with company management, finance, project managers and site staff to understand how each workflow currently runs and where it fails
• Distinguish what users request from what the business requires, and specify solutions accordingly
• Present progress, findings and proposals to management in clear, interactive reports

Building and Delivery

• Build, test and ship new features and workflows using AI development tools, primarily Claude Code
• Release working prototypes to users quickly, collect feedback and improve on it
• Define and enforce data standards so that every record entered into D-MEP's systems is complete and consistent
• Document each system so that colleagues can use it and the team can maintain it

Transition to Conversational Workflows

• Lead the move from form-based tools towards an AI agent that staff interact with in conversation, for example to submit a leave request or record a payment, with each request captured as a structured record and routed for approval
• Identify which workflows currently handled by phone, email or spreadsheet should be digitised next
• Move users from current prototypes to new systems without disrupting their work

Requirements

Must-Have

• Bachelor's degree in business, economics, management, or a related field
• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in operations, consulting, analysis, product or a comparable business role. Exceptional candidates with less experience will be considered.
• At least one tool, automation, dashboard or system that you built yourself and that was used by real people to solve a real business problem
• Daily, hands-on use of AI tools in your work, with concrete output you can show
• Demonstrated ability to gather requirements from non-technical colleagues and turn them into a working solution
• Strong data literacy: comfortable with large spreadsheets, structured data formats, and how systems store and exchange data

Candidates are not required to hold a computer science degree or to write code by hand. They must, however, be able to understand, test and question what AI tools produce.

Preferred

• Experience in a finance, HR or operations function
• Experience with Claude Code or a similar AI development tool
• Experience with databases or automation platforms such as Airtable, Supabase, Power Automate or Zapier
• Exposure to construction, contracting or other project-based businesses

Language

Professional fluency in English is required. French and Arabic are strong pluses, given D-MEP's operations in French-speaking and Arabic-speaking countries.
